Lisa A. Phillips is a freelance writer, journalist, and the author of Public Radio: Behind the

Voices. She's written for The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Time Out New York Kids,

and other publications. A former award-winning radio reporter, she's done audio production

work for The New York Times online multimedia. She contributes film and book reviews to

51%, a nationally syndicated women's issues show, and has reported stories for All Things

Considered and MarketplaceShe teaches journalism and radio reporting at the State

University of New York at New Paltz.

Phillips is also a published fiction writer and a recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts

fiction grant. She has been awarded writing residencies at the Ucross Foundation, Jentel, and

theVirginia Center for the Creative Arts, where she met her husband, Bill Mead,

a painter and web designer.

Audio & Radio

A public radio veteran, Lisa has done audio production work for The New York Times, most recently for the audio slide show that

accompanied her article on visual artists Catherine Chalmers and Charles Lindsay.  She's also done film and book reviews for

the nationally syndicated public radio program 51%.  During her 12 years working in at public radio affiliate stations , she hosted

news programs and call in shows. She's covered topics as diverse as the controversy over industrial hog farms, the ultra

orthodox Jews of rural Postville, Iowa, the underwater ghost towns of the New York City watershed, and the affordable housing

shortage for domestic violence survivors in the Hudson Valley. She has contributed reporting to All Things Considered.

Book Packaging 

Lisa has experience in a number of book packaging services, including ghost writing, editing, and press kits. Titles she's worked

on include Footprints in the Snow: The Autobiography of a Chinese Buddhist Monk by Master Chan Sheng Yen and...well, she

can't say (they don't call it ghost writing for nothing).

Lisa has written for a number of medical publications, specializing in topics related to neurology and health care policy.
